Success always has a history: The first step, to establish itself among the best addresses of slalom courses, has been the successful organization of the European Championships for Juniors and Under 23 last year. In the logical consequence the German Canoe Federation entrusted Markkleeberg with the organization of the World Cup in Canoe Slalom in 2011. I’m sure that the world wide best slalom canoeists will find excellent conditions and that the organization of the first World Cup in canoe slalom here in Markkleeberg will be a further important step in the history of this competition course.
In the last months the organizers did a great job and together with the regional canoe enthusiasts and the whole republic they look forward to exciting competitions. Just now in the pre olympic season the top athletes will make use of the World Cup to document their state of affairs in preparation and to collect accordingly confidence for the upcoming Olympia qualification. Naturally I hope that our German athletes also will be able to play within the first league and use their home field advantage.
I’m certain that all athlethes will find excellent conditions and the traditionally large and expert spectators of the region will live through high class competitions.
Let us enjoy the competitions together and add with this brilliant organization of the first World Cup in Markkleeberg a further contribution to the history of this slalom course.
